Dinner rolls: check!

Had to have proper dinner rolls. Which you can't just grab at the bakery here :(. So they had to be made from scratch. Which I've never done. Luckily Canadian Friend felt up to it and did a great job!!! Looked and tasted awesome :).

Real napkins: check!

Along with the fancy dishes, we also had a proper table cloth and cloth napkins. So, of course, I had to have those too :).

Fancy dishes: check!

Growing up, Thanksgiving was always a bit special because we got to use the "fancy dishes". Mom's wedding china. And we had to be careful and it was pretty and just what we did on Thanksgiving . So I had to have fancy dishes for my Thanksgiving too! They are not wedding china because, well, not married yet. But still fancy! And totally can't go in dishwasher. So same diff right? :).

Pretty table: check!

You can't have Thanksgiving without a pretty table to sit at. Well. You can. But I didn't want to. It was my first Thanksgiving so I probably went a bit overboard but so what :).

Cupcake turkies: check!

Canadian Friend made the cutest Thanksgiving cupcakes ever :).

Violate turkey more: check!

We never made turkey with the stuffing actually in the turkey. Mom explained now that she thought it got too moist when you stuffed it in there. Leading to stuffing with the consistency of wall paper paste. But Canadian Friend's family always stuffed the poor bird. So we compromised and she got to stuff it, but she was all on her own there. I had already done things to poor Rupert the night before that should have ended in cigarettes all around. Although Canadian Friend smokes so after she was done in guess there was a celebratory cigarette just anyway :).

Violate turkey: check!

When you make a turkey you get to dig around in there with your hand up it's butt to check for large chunks of ice and the inevitable "bag o' bits" that's oh so fun to pull out. Blek. Unlike my Southern brethren, however, we do not use this to make giblets gravy. We toss it. In the trash. Where it belongs.
