Design dream of the day

Arne Jacobsen's Egg chair from 1958. He designed it as a part of a
larger project that included a whole building and it's interior
design. It was the SAS Hotel in Copenhagen. Many of Jacobsen's designs
are now classics and for good reason. I just wish they weren't so
expensive :(. But one day I will have one and I'm kind of hoping it
will be pink :). Not sissy pink either but the pink we call "shock
pink" here in Sweden.

Cuddle buddy!

Rutger finally crawled up in my lap! I've seen him do it with
Ebba,Gittan and of course Leif. But now I qualified too :). And he
stayed until Bastet got a little too curious and then he had to
prioritize of course :(.

Face off!

Rutger meets Bastet! Ebba and Rutger stayed over night and it was
intresting to see puppy meets kitty. Sekhmet was actually the brave
one, she kept creeping up to get a better look at the dangerous fur
ball on the couch and retreating, then back, then retreat and so
on :). But I didn't think to get a picture! Bastet happened by when I
had my phone. If course :) But they did touch noses. So cute!

Panton chair

This is one of my absolute favorites. It was designed by Verner
Panton, I think in 1967. I am not sure I should say it is a sexy chair
or not, but it really is! I just love the shape and even though this
yellow color is my favorite I would probably go with white when buying
for my dining table. I probably have time to figure it out. At 2500
SEK per chair it will take me a long time to save up enough to go
around the dining table :(.

Design stuff!!!

Well. We all know I love my books my cats and my my orchids. You could
say those are my three favorite things. And I can add a fourth which
is of course design :). I have learned to love design since I moved to
Sweden and over the past few years I have grown to love it more and
more. One could argue that I am now a bit obsessed...I have of course
several favorites and every now and then, from now on, I will be
writing a bit about my favorite design objects.

The first is a rocking chair called Stingray. This wonderful chair
will be one of the first objects to join my design collection :). It
doesn't look like it should be comfy but it really is! We shall see
when I am able to get my very own instead of loitering at
Miljögården...

Siri's initiation to the balcony!

Well since the other kitties are on the balcony when it is warm, Siri
had to learn how to be on the balcony when it's warm. It's pretty
easy. Lesson One: Don't fall off. Lesson Two: Repeat Lesson One. The
end. She really liked looking at everything though :)

It might be time to clean...

Maybe? Yeah. I have been so caught up with work and everything that I
have let things go. Really really a lot. But this weekend I will be
doing a huge cleaning. Getting things nice for the new tenant who
arrives on the first. Don't want him to run away screaming now do we?

Giant mushroom!!!

Erika and I went out on an ice cream break and on the way back we saw
this giant mushroom growing beside the road. You probably can't tell
but it was about the size of a large dinner plate. Damn!

Lazy pizza ordering

Jens sent me a website for ordering pizza home delivered. I just tried
it and there is even a countdown clock for when the pizza will come.
Best being lazy site ever!!!!

End of term frustration

This what we teachers do at fika time during the last couple weeks of
school. Hey, it could have beena student!

Lundakarneval!!!

Every four years in Lund there is a three day carnival put on by the
students at the university. About 4,500 students volunteer for it
every time and about 500,000 people visit during the carnival.
I worked at the last carnival as a student and it was very fun. But
this time it was no work and all play :). We saw the circus, cabaret,
and the Spex. And they were all really good!!! The Spex was
especially fun because you can clap and get them to do encores during
the whole play. And the actors really go all out for the last show
which was the one we saw. They killed Goliath four times :).

I forgot one China present!

Jens also got me a good luck charm for when I get my car this summer or right before school starts. He said all the cars in China have them. So now I will have good luck in my new car :) Now all I need are a couple Hello Kitty things to complete my car happiness :)

Fun picture of China presents :)

Once I got my present I noticed that the bottom of the bag was kind of squished from being in the suitcase and you can tell here at least that it was probably a copy, considering that the bag was made from pieces of Chinese cardboard, probably not used at the real Louis Vuitton store. Just a guess :)

Best present from China :) :) :)

Well I almost peed my pants when I saw this present :) It is of course my favorite purse maker and I have always really really wanted one!!! So when Jens stumbled on a stall selling them he bought me one :) It is a really really really well done copy. I was very very very impressed and so so happy! Thank you again Jens!!!!

Presents from China :)

Jens went to China for three weeks and he had a very fun time, but I had a more fun time when he came home and I got PRESENTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love presents :)
I got a fun bag with Chinese letters and symbol on it. It means something like "In the service of the people" or something like that, from what Jens said :)
I also got a very very pretty fan and a copy of my favorite book of all time, Gone with the Wnd, in Chinese. Very fun to have, but probably will never be able to read it...
Thanks so much Jens!!! Another post to come about the best present from China...

Finding love at the office ;)

Well if a dinosaur and a rabbit can find love in this crazy world, there is still hope for me, no? ;)

It's not Karneval without Karnevöl :)

Well since I don't drink I didn't actually have any Karnevöl but Jens did :) And many many many many other people had many many many many karnevöls :)

Belly dancing!

There was a belly dancer at the circus and it was very cool! I have never seen one before in real life and it was so pretty and interesting.

I think that after my operation and after I am skinny and pretty I will sign up for a course in belly dancing. They have them at Medborgarskolan and a couple of other places.

I think it would be fun to learn how to do it!

Circus

Here are some pictures from the circus at the Lundakarnevalen. It was really really really good this time!!!

There were evil clowns and good clowns and more evil clowns. And they all sang to classic opera melodies in classic opera voices.

Must protect eggs!

My little horny birdies have now laid about 10 eggs!!! I think it is ten because I haven't been able to count them the last couple of days. As you see they have completely covered the door to the nest with string. If you look closely you can see a little tiny nose peeking out. Ahhhhh :) I guess I will notice one day when the babies hatch?

My pretty orchid :)

As promised here is a prettier and better picture of my new orchid :).
I love it love it love it!!!

New job :)

Well I got a new job today :). I am the native language teacher for
Lomma kommun! My boss in Kävlinge gave them my name and today I had an
interview and got the job :). So now here is my job situation as far
as I know starting in August: Lunds fordonstekniska gymnasium 45%,
Kävlinge kommun 20%, Lomma kommun 30-40%. So now I will be a hundred
percent teacher :). Feels great! And kinda funny. But so far only good
funny :)

Tulips and rhododendrons on the way from the orchids :(

I made a sad face cause we had to leave the orchids :(. But the other
parts of the park were very pretty! We walked the ravine and in two or
three weeks all the rhododendron bushes will be blooming. We might
have to go back :). Gittan was with us so maybe I will soon see my
Swedish mommy again :).

And since we all know I'm an orchid whore...

One of the purple Vanda orchids came home with me :). The first
picture is of one in the exhibit. The second one is the one I brought
home :). I will take more and better pictures when it is day time!

Orchids at Sofiero!!!

Many pictures...but there could have been many more!!!

Tulips on the way to the orchids :)

Me and Jens and Erika went to Helsingborg today. We went to Sofiero to
see the orchid exhibition. It was wonderful!!! Here is a bit of what
we saw on the way...

Arizona tea!

They have Arozona tea at one of the grocery stores here. Jimmie and I
shared one with some fresh bread and had breakfast (or lunch) on the
balcony so we could enjoy the sun :)

Kitties like good weather too :)

Laying in patches of sun and hanging out on the balcony. It is the
beginning of good weather :). Kitties were very happy to be out on the
balcony. Even Sekhmet! She likes to hide under the hammock and take a
nap :). Bastet likes to sleep in the pots of dirt. Today she found sun
in the chair and Siri shared the same patch of sun on the floor :).

Orchid Chair

I was browsing for orchid pictures and this chair came up! So cool!
Love orchids. Love design. Love white furniture. I am afraid to check
out what it might cost. If I don't know that I can't afford it then I
don't need to give up hope right? ;)

Not able to sleep

So I guess it is a good time for one of my antifeminist rants. I took
this one awhile ago cause it always pisses me off when I see it. Why
is there a girl's gym but no boy's gym? And by boy's gym i mean a
separate boys only gym, not the common gym area that anyone can walk
into. Some women would say (imagine the helpless Southern accent of
course) "Well it's just so disconcerting to have men watching while I
work out. I feel like an object on display". And then of course she
gets the vapors. And fixes her make-up. Ok. Some men check out women
at the gym. Newsflash. Wait for it. Some women check out men at the
gym. Gasp! I know right?
Some men are also uncomfortable with lots of people staring at them.
Not all of them are so fucking sure of themselves just like not all
women are sure of themselves.
So either Gerdahallen needs to have both a separate girl gym and a
separate boy gym, in addition to the large common gym, or they need to
rename the "damstyrkehall" to the "I think I'm too ugly to be around
lots of people styrkehall" or the "I'm not comfortable enough with
myself to be around lots of people styrkehall" and open it up for
those men too.
Shit like this is such a leap back from getting close to eqaulity that
it makes my butt twitch.

You again?

Fuck off already!
Or at least turn on the water so I can drink and nap at the same time...

Hello Kitty old school style!

Same cute Sekhmet picture but with that fun camera application.

Hello Kitty >^•.•^<

Well I switched from the rubber duckies to the Hello Kittys and who do
I find in the sink again? Sekhmet :). Whose mummy's strangest kitty? :)

Two teachers stalk a military caravan

Well it sounds like the beginning of a very bad joke...but it's not.
Yep, on our way home from work Erika and I saw this military vehicle
in front of us. We were curious so we followed. I was especially
curious because for the first time in almost 7 years I saw a real gun
(gasp!) here in Sweden!!! Granted it was attached to a military
vehicle but I think it still counts :). Plus the guy sitting with the
gun on the second giant green car was kinda pretty ;). And he had a
big gun...giggle giggle :).
