I found this great vintage coat today. I liked it but figured it would be a few hundred crowns so no way could I get it. Nope! 200 crowns!!! I am embarrassed to say I grabbed it like a little kid at Christmas and ran. May have possibly growled at another lady nearby. She was eyeballing my coat! But it is mine! All mine! My precious!
Today I was in my elvish best at the Science Fiction Bookstore handing out information about Angmar. It was the 75th jubilium of the Hobbit :). So of course there was a little party and cakes in true hobbit fashion :). And an elf :).
I got presents at work today :). My colleague's daughter was a bit too young for this so I got it as present :). It works perfect on my backpack full of buttons and keychains and patches :). Plus I like how the package says "Really works!". There is even a little pencil in there, lol.
The great end to Kulturnatten was Sophie Zelmani :). Love her music! So was super happy :).
As usual, Konsthallen offered up an array of weirdness masquerading as art. One we were not quite sure of was this chair. After sitting my ass down (my dogs were barkin') Erika pointed out the label next to it. Oops. We are still not sure if it went with the chair or a white box near an outlet. Yeah. Par for course at this particular Kulturnatten stop :).
At the Lilla Operan at Kulturnatten we got to hear a fun version of the Marriage of Figaro where the couple fights over putting together IKEA furniture :).
Fun night at Kulturnatten this weekend :). One was this comedian hosting a few lectures from the university. Each one was 8 minutes. Pretty good.
Book Pub with fellow Tolkien geeks last night. It was great! Everyone brought a book to share. Few minutes to tell about the book then questions and discussion after. Also really really great food :). I was happy to be one of the three in charge of making it a great night :). Plus, I got to borrow a book and my book made people laugh and got borrowed itself :).
I decided when I moved here that I wouldn't have regular art on the walls. I wanted something a bit different and hopefully interesting. One thing I am happy with are the metal pieces I brought from home and spray painted, the flowers and butterflies. The other is using tarot cards as art. I found the greatest deck for me. It is called the Inner Child Tarot. And we all know I am just a huge kid really. But they were perfect! Colorful and bright. And they show fairy tales, which I love. I'm very happy with how it turned out :).
I have stuff on the walls! After more than two years I am finally getting my shit together. A whole bunch of stuff has traveled from the attic to the living room. And it is sooooooo close to being done its not even funny. I can't wait squeee :). Biggest project left are the six chairs that go with my table. I'm so excited!!!!
I'm so super high on fumes now. But I have finally gotten my decorations spray painted and hung on the walls! Along with my pretty tarot cards. Pictures to come!!!
My friend Anders has this really fun tea from Russia. It has a military vehicle on the front. Yeah. Not sure why that goes with tea but maybe there is a story there we just don't know. Or maybe they are just weird about their tea in Russia. I think it's kinda fun :).
Fun pillow I found while out shopping making Jimmie buy pillows for his couch. It has Stillwater and Minnesota on it :). Probably they mean Stillwater, Minnesota but I go with Oklahoma in my head. Plus family is from Minnesota anyway so it all counts :). I didn't buy it though cause it doesn't match my stuff at all :(.
...30 boxes of books. Take one down, pass it around....
Yeah. Anyhow. I finally got my books all straightened out. My pretty art and history books are in the shelf all happy and the rest are living in these boxes until I get my third room all to myself to have as a library. I can't wait! And neither can my babies :). And now they are all organized by genre or author, ready for library duty.
Bastet is quite the cuddle whore, but only when she wants to be. If you make her do it she gets a little testy. But it's super cute :). So here she is being cuddled against her will :).
