Free stuff!

Kitties hit the jackpot today at the vet. The store in the vet hospital was giving away these kitten starter kits to all kitties getting thier first vaccinations. One for each of them and they were not small! Loads of food, a tin, books about kittens. It was very generous of them! And the tins are pink :).

First trip to the critter doctor :)

The kitties got thier first vaccines today. Along with first trip in the car, and first trip to the vet. And getting sniffed by thier first dog. They did really good! Polo meowed a bit in the car but not much. Gizmo was quiet. During the visit they behaved wonderfully. A bit cuddlier than usual, but we like that. They were much more relaxed on the way home. We go back in a month for second vaccines, but I'm not worried. Fluff balls did good :).

Can I go with?

Polo misses Boyfriend too :(. She jumped in the suitcase to go with!

Sekhmet's pictures

I wanted to make something nice with pictures for Sekhmet. I am going to make for Bastet too, and the kittens. But I wanted a nice collection of Sekhmet pictures and I think it turned out really nice. I miss her a lot :(. But this way I get to see her all the time in pictures.

New home :(

Good and bad news :(. Marco and Gandalf moved to thier new home last Friday. It seems to be a good home. Someone that the cat rescue lady knew through her brother. But I really miss them and wish we could have kept them too :(. But three cats is already quite many, especially with Boyfriend's allergies. I hope they like thier new home and am glad they have each other!

Comfy new chairs

Yes, they really are enjoying the chairs :). Although the kittens are quickly figuring out that Bastet does not, under any circumstances, share her chair. Gizmo has tried. Gizmo has failed. But the others seem happy to share :).

Spoiled kitties

Boyfriend continues to spoil our kitties :). We actually saw these a few months ago and meant to get some. But we didn't and they sold out. Luckily they got them again! So we got one for each kitty. Good thing too cause they were popular!

My friend Amanda started selling these nail wraps and I bought a few. I am so addicted! They were easy to put on and so far they are holding out really well. I can't wait to try more! Fall off already!

Projects

I finally set up my sewing machine, with much help from Boyfriend, and made my first sewing thing in years and years. It is so simple, I am a bit embarrassed, but you gotta start somewhere right? So I made felt envelopes for my fancy banquet dishes. They all sit in a basket and knock together so I figured this would protect them a bit. And yes, as a Tolkien nerd, I possess not one, but two sets of fancy banquet dishes, thank you very much! :).

Fearless

Marco likes to sit in front of the vacuum cleaner. It doesn't seem to bother him or any of the kittens too much. We have actually had to lightly push him out of the way. Most cats run and hide so this was new for us. Sekhmet especially hated the vacuum cleaner :(.

You remember previous posts about Polo and Hello Kitty? Well here she is again with her favorite cat. Definitely Mommy's little kitty :).

Finished product

I have finished my caravan! It is actually the largest Lego project I have ever built so I am pretty proud. And it was an awesome set. Now I am looking forward to the next one :).

Halfway

Finished with book 1 of 2 for my Lego caravan. Am getting really excited to see how it turns out! Plus it gave me something to do while I was worrying about Sekhmet :(.

Sekhmet 2008-2014

Today we had to put Sekhmet to sleep.  She got really sick over the past couple of days, not eating, sleeping a lot, unsteady, and she lost a lot of weight.  Her fur was very dull and her eyes were glassy.  We took her to the vet on the 2nd and they took some x-rays, and kept her overnight for tests and ultra sound.  It turns out that she had a stone in her bladder, and one in her kidney.  But the real problem was that one kidney was way too small, and the other had grown larger to compensate.  And she was dehydrated and stopped up as a result, so she was feeling very bad.  They said she couldn't have surgery, because her kidneys would not handle it, and without surgery, they couldn't fix her.  And that even if she survived the surgery, her kidneys would keep making her sick again and again.  So we had to make the worst decision ever, and she passed away today at 11:30.  We were both there and got to say goodbye to her.  She fell asleep in Boyfriend's lap, since he was her favorite cuddle buddy, and I was holding her head.  We could tell she was tired, and done, even though it went so fast.  We could have taken her home for a day or two, but that would have made her suffer, and would have been for us, not her.
Sekhmet was a wonderful cat, not the cuddliest, but she had a wonderful personality and she always wanted to be around her humans, even if not in our laps.  Although, over the past two years, she has been cuddly with Boyfriend and cuddlier with everyone in general.  She loved to sleep in the sink when it was warm, and her favorite spots were usually nearby her human.  She was as eccentric and crazy as everyone else in this place :).  Her best friend was Siri, but her favorite cat, of course, was Bastet.  Her other human was Jimmie, Siri's human.  He helps take care of my kitties all the time.  We will all miss her so very much, but hope that wherever she is, there are lots of fun places to nap and she can keep on being the special kitty that she was.      

New Year's dinner with friends

We had New Year's at some friends and we each made something for dinner. Pretty international. Lasagne from us and stroganoff from them.  All very very good :). And we got leftovers home!
