New fabric

After painting the exposed parts of the frame white, it was time for the new fabric! I had a hard time finding a good one though. I finally settled on this one. It is a bit lacy, so it will let out the light, but not so lacy that it still won't still function as a lamp shade. Plus, these lamps are usually from the 30's and 40's, and this fabric gave me that feel.
Parts ended up crooked, and I need to improve my aim with the glue gun just a smidgen, but overall I am quite pleased with my second ever lamp shade makeover :).
I tried to get the edging to look as "professional" as possible. I think I did pretty good. I hope!
It was also fun to see that the fabric had originally been a pale shade of pink. You could see it in the creases of the original fabric. Pretty cool.

Let the slaughter begin!

I ripped off all the fabric from the shades, sanded all the chipped paint off, and got them all ready for painting. This included some pretty tedious time with scissors and tweezers to get all the stitches and string off the wrapped parts of the frame. I will totally cheat and use a hot glue gun later btw. I left the wrapped parts at top and bottom, but otherwise everything gone. Sanding was pretty necessary cause all the old paint was chipping off. Very dusty, but all done now. All ready for a new look :).

Lego marathon

Since we were already going, we decided to put together my Lord of the Rings Lego set that I have had floating around for like a year. Also very fun :).

Super yummy gnochi

I think I spelled that right. I hope so! We got totally spoiled at a friend of mine from work. So so yummy! And fun to meet his family and hang out a bit outside of work. I could not stop eating. So much good food!

Advent Legos

The one who makes me smile a lot has finally opened all his Advent boxes and finally got all the Lego pieces. We put it together today and had much fun :).

Spettekaka

I brought a bit of Skåne with me to the wild reaches of Northern Sweden. I tortured boyfriend's whole family with this particular Skånsk delicacy. I had actually never had it myself so it was kinda fun :). Cutting it was a real challenge, but we managed. It got pretty mixed reviews, but everyone agreed it was a fun experience. I also taught everyone there how to say it "properly". Ya'll in Skåne know what I mean ;).

First project of the New Year

I finally, finally, finally got one! Been trying to get my hands on one of these lamps for two years, but they went and got trendy, aka expensive. Then it turned out that the one who makes me smile a lot had one in a house he owned. The former owner had left a bunch of stuff. Including my precious, wonderful lamp!!! So not only did I finally get one, it was free! So this week I will start redoing it to fit my unique tastes :). Keep an eye out for updates!
