Earthquake in Sweden (yeah, I know!)

Here is where our little earthquake happened. I was at work and the building shook for about ten seconds I think. So even though it was a 4,7 on that scale thingy nothing really happened more than the house shaking. A few of my wine glasses tipped over in the cabinet, but other than that no big thing :)

This Year's First Snow

It snowed a bunch in November this year. It was very fun having the first snow of the year, but getting around was a bit difficult for a few days. Very very icy roads, sidewalks, grass, everything!

Election Results in Sweden

I guess this would be fairly representative of general opinion here in Sweden concerning the election results in the US. I would have to agree.

Kitties like Pumpkins?

Sekhmet licked the pumpkin where it was cut and even crawled into the bag to eat pumpkin guts. I just wanted one normal cat that would get fat and lay in the sun and do normal cat things.... Why me? :)

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's...?

At Kulturens Julstök both Helena and I were a bit confused about this particular display, work of art, lighting experiment...practical joke...? What and why were the the general musings about this little slice of weirdness. Poor tree :(

Even the kitties understand how important it is to have things nice and tidy at home :)

Spot the Kitty

My kitties were confused by the rather strange location of this kitty that they normally see outside the patio door (third kitty is standing on the table out on the patio).

Hello Piggy...Bye Bye Piggy...

Helena and I went to the Julstök at Kulturen and of course the experience was not complete until we each got our very own ginger cookie with our names on it. We were the only grown ups in the line...but we didn't care :)



















Soon there will no more piggy left :(

But it is tasty :)

One Big Devil and his Little Devil Friend

I got the big devil for my Halloween/Moving In Party as a present. Great present by the way, for those who gave it to me, you know who you are :)

The other devil lives here.

But she has horns too, and evil devil behavior.

Halloween Party!!!

It was a great party! At one point we almost ran out of room for all the people. Always a good sign for the hostess :)

Baby Orchid!!!

The orchids like it so much here they are reproducing!

I have a baby orchid which is called a keiko. I haven't had the heart to separate it from its mommy yet :(

But soon I will have to put it in its own pot :(

I just hope it doesn't die!

I am sooo proud of all my little babies :=)

I finally got an entire fall of orchids, just like they sell in the shops!

They really like all the sun they get here. Not too much, not too little. Perfect orchid windows here.

Melinda Hates Dishes

I hate washing dishes! If I keep piling them up and then wash once a week I get to practice my dishes mountain building skills :)

I was quite impressed with this one, but will continue to practice and let everyone know how it goes!

Who will guard the guards?

Bastet is guarding the back door. She and Sekhmet see another kitty outside, along with birds, bugs, plants, and, well, air. They like to cackle and growl at anything that moves, especially Bastet, cause she has to protect Sekhmet. And matte of course!

Sekhmet's First Bath

After Sekhmet jumped into the toilet...again...she had to have her very first bath. She didn't mind nearly as much as Bastet does when she has to have a bath.

She was confused when the water didn't disappear right away though. No matter how much she tried, there was water all over her fur. That had never happened before!

A Sign

I found this one on a tree here near my apartment.

I thought it was a sign that Jens and I are supposed to be ok.

Jens of course thought only of the fact that the tree was next to the trash area. Very romantic.

Winter is coming

Here all the leaves are falling off. Soon there will be no leaves left on any of the trees.

And as usual in Sweden, the winter rains have started and everything is all wet and gray, except for the pretty leaves, which are all kinds of wonderful colors now.

Lucy to the Rescue!

When Klas' car died, Lucy came to the rescue! She got to jump start her very first electric car. I was very proud :)

And here they are very good friends, goodbye kisses!

The Poo Wars Continue

Well, in the fight for a less smelly cat box we are now trying Tidy Cats. With promises of "immediate odor control" we are hoping this will be the one.

Bastet and Sekhmet's First Meeting

Here are the kitties playing together when they first met. Bastet was not amused by this tiny addition to the family. Here she is being vampire Bastet :)

Now they like each other a lot more, and Bastet gives Sekhmet baths and Sekhmet steals Bastet's food. It's a work in progress relationship...

My New Kitty :)

Here is my kitty Sekhmet making herself comfy in our new apartment. Bastet hasn't really taken to sleeping in the sink or the bath tub. She prefers her own kitty sized chair :)

We all like our new home so far. Still have a bit of packing and organizing to do, but all in all, it feels pretty nice here.

And thanks to all my painting friends, my bedroom is no longer green and my living room is no longer old lady wall papered! Thanks!
